I’m Amber – a social worker and environmentalist. I try hard to do everything I can do in my life, and I was pleased to find this application, which gives me some affirmation that I’ve done the right things, so I’m pleased to be recognised here, so to be an example to anyone else who is thinking about doing this too. Check out my plan to be a Cool Human 🙂.

Being a Vegan, I thought I’d get a green card through this process, but it turns out that although this is a chunk of my impact, making this choice is only a small piece of the puzzle. I had to add quite a few other things. Being a renter (living in a shared house) I’m going to need to find an energy efficient property to move into, hopefully with a heat pump.  I’ve already made some cool choices about buying second hand.  I’m totally pleased to be in Bristol which is a green city with a Green Party council, which is going great work, so that helps.

The bit which I struggled with was the banking.  I was annoyed that my bank wasn’t doing enough, so I’ve decided to move this year.  I haven’t got any money to invest :(.

Travel is something I want to do more of.  I’ve got a van.  I can’t afford to have that be electric, and I still want to go touring in Europe.  I don’t have to fly though, but I definitely want to save up for a trip to South East Asia in a few years, so will need to take that flight.  Glad there’s an option for doing that once every three years.

I’m super pleased that I can be a help on climate change and nature loss, and not a hinderance.  I don’t know whether it’s a bug but I’ve got minus results on my impact on nature – I figure that’s because I’m organic and vegan – so perhaps that makes me net positive for nature :).  It’s pretty trad to have this here – thanks for everyone who made it – you have definitely helped me make some cool decisions, as well as to know that I’m not part of the horrible destruction going on!
